The Dodge City spirit squad program has been one of the top cheer programs across junior college for years now, and the Conquistadors look to continue to compete at the highest level while enhancing the game atmosphere for Dodge City athletics.
Brett Rojas took over as head coach for the Conqs after the 2042-25 school year and looks to lead the Conqs spirit squad program into the future, and has brought in
Royjeannae Ursin to help as she steps into the role of assistant coach for the program.
Ursin spent the last five years coaching cheer in Houston, Texas, in community programs. She founded her own international cheerleading recruiting company called Grow Cheer Recruitment, which has led to her traveling to Kingston, Jamaica, to judge their first worlds competition, while hosting classes to share and teach her knowledge of cheer. The Houston, Texas native has over 20+ years of cheerleading under her belt, including several years at the college level competing for Blinn College, Sam Houston State University, and Texas Southern University. She is a collegiate and All-Star NCA Champion, Cheersport Champion, and three-time All-American nominee.
"I cannot wait to continue carrying the torch of success, adding more regional and national titles to the accolades of the program. My goal is not only to create amazing athletes at Dodge City but also to be a guiding light to where they want to go in the future. I want to be a coach they can always call on, even when their journey takes them to new heights after Dodge City. Most importantly, I am so ecstatic about creating a lifetime family, friends, and memories," said Ursin about the opportunity to join the Dodge City coaching staff.
