The Dodge City Community College competitive cheer team got the 2025-26 school year underway with competition for Conquistador athletics as they competed at the annual National Cheer Association Collegiate Cheer Qualifier Camp. This year, the Conqs traveled to Columbia, Missouri, to compete at the NCA Collegiate Cheer Qualifier Camp hosted by the University of Missouri.
Â
Over the three days of camp, the Conqs put together a strong showing in several facets. The Conqs would claim first place in the crowd segment with a perfect 10 score, while also taking first in the rally routine. The team also earned three superior ribbons during the competition, along with a silver bid to NCA Nationals.Â
Â
Day one saw the Conqs bring home the spirit stick as the most spirited team, and for the first time ever, the Conq mascot, performed by
Cadence Applegate-Brice, earned NCA All-American honors and was named most improved at the camp.Â
Â
The Conqs received a Nationals invite and now turn their attention to cheering and performing at athletic events throughout the school year and then competition again in the spring when they compete in Region 6 action and then the NCA National Championships in April 2026 on the 8th-11th.
