The Dodge City spirit squad has left their fingerprints all over the cheer scene for multiple years now establishing the program as one of the top junior college programs across the country. The program will now be under new guidance as
Brett Rojas steps up from his assistant coach role and takes over as Head Coach after the resignation of Michael Brewster.
Rojas heads into his fifth year at Dodge City now in charge of the spirit squad program and looks to continue the program's success and guide the Conquistadors forward. He spent the last four years as assistant coach for the spirit squad helping the program claim multiple National Cheer Association national championships and dominate Region 6 competition.
"I want to continue bringing student-athletes to Dodge City to continue the standard of the cheer program. My goal is to guide them through life lessons like living away from home, working hard, setting goals and achieving them, and being the best version of themselves. I want them to move on to four-year universities and know that DC3 will always be home to them," said Rojas on how he hopes to impact the program as the head coach.
During his four years at Dodge City as assistant coach, he's helped guide the program to success in many ways. During the 2024-25 school year he oversaw the Intermediate Small Coed team helping lead them to their third-straight Junior College NCA National Championship as the team won the Intermediate Small Coed competition in 2023 and 2024 with Rojas helping lead the team. He also helped coach the Advanced Small Coed team to the NCA National Championship in both 2021 and 2024, while finishing runner-up in 2022 and 2025. Also, in 2025 he helped lead the Conqs to compete in the first-ever NJCAA Invitational a competition that saw the Conqs finish second. In Region 6 competition the Conqs have been dominating during Rojas's tenure at Dodge City winning four Region Grand Champion titles during his time.
Athletic Director
Jacob Ripple looks to the future of the spirit squad for the Conqs with the promotion of Rojas to Head Coach and believes he will continue the program's success.
"I am excited for Brett to take the reins of our cheer program. He has had the opportunity to be a part of the winning tradition of our program here at DCCC and now will have his chance to put his stamp on the program as the leader. Brett has taken ownership of the intermediate teams the last couple of years and done a great job with them, so I fully expect that the program will continue to thrive under his direction," said Ripple.
Rojas on top of his four seasons as assistant coach at Dodge City has other coaching experience under his belt. Since 2010 he has been a member of the NCA college and traditional staff helping instruct middle through high school teams across the country, while he has coached at all levels including all-star, high school, and collegiate. He's helped Dodge City win and was part of the coaching staff for three NCA College Championships with Texas A&M and Blinn College. He also cheered himself in college at Blinn and Sam Houston State University where he was part of three NCA College Championships.
"I am excited to take the next step in my career and use the tools I was given and learned as an assistant coach to help coach the student-athletes in cheerleading and life lessons. As the vets so eloquently put it: New Era, same Legacy!" said Rojas.
