Box Score 2 SALINA, Kan. -- The Dodge City Community College baseball team kept the momentum rolling after sweeping previously first-place Barton over the weekend by taking two from Brown Mackie College on the road Tuesday, 13-3 and 10-5, to increase its winning streak to six games.
The Conquistadors (25-8) jumped on Brown Mackie (2-30) in the first game, scoring multiple runs in each of the first four innings to build a 13-1 advantage before holding on for the 13-3 run-rule victory (five innings).
Colbey Madewell finished 4-for-4 for DC3 with a pair of runs,
Ricky Trammell was 3-for-4 with a double, four RBI and two runs,
Frankie Valle went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and three runs and
Max Laney was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs.
Charlie Vizcaya got the start, going two innings and giving up a run on three hits with a strikeout and three walks.
Carter Hogan pitched two innings and gave up a run with no hits, three walks and a strikeout while
Talon Schaller pitched the final inning, giving up a run on two hits with a strikeout and a walk.
In game two, DC3 built a 6-1 lead after three and a half innings - highlighted by a two-run home run by
Andres Acuna.
However, Brown Mackie score four runs in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 6-5 to put a bit of a scare into the Conqs before DC3 scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to put the game away.
Ivan Gonzalez finished 3-for-5 in game two for DC3 with three doubles, an RBI and two runs,
Jason Nichols went 2-for-4 with three RBI, Acuna went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, RBI and two runs and
Tim Wakefield was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run.
Garrett Hammond got the start for DC3 and went two innings and gave up a run on one hit with three strikeouts and two walks.
The Conqs return to action 5 p.m. Friday when they host Wentworth Military Academy for a nine inning game before playing a doubleheader against Wentworth starting 1 p.m. Saturday.
