Five Baseball Players Earn KJCCC All-Conference Honors

For the second straight year, the Dodge City baseball team finished sixth in the KJCCC, competing throughout the season in year two under Head Coach JM Kelly
 
The performance of five Conquistadors has earned them KJCCC All-Conference honors, with Ben Longoria selected as first-team catcher. The quartet of Will Soto (third base), Angel Vazquez (shortstop), Cameron Stewart (pitcher), and Preston Harrison (outfield) all earned honorable mention. 
 
Longoria closes out his Conq career by earning first-team KJCCC All-Conference honors, serving as the primary catcher all season, playing in 52 of the teams 55 games on the season. The sophomore hit .439 on the season with 82 hits, leading the team in both categories. He added 50 RBI, 11 walks, 13 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 53 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. Longoria finished his two seasons with the Conqs with a career batting average of .398, breaking the school record, while ranking fourth in career runs scored (101) and hits (134), along with tenth in career RBI (91) in school history. His sophomore season ranks him second in batting average in a single season and fifth in hits for a season in school history. 
 
A strong freshman season at third base earned Soto honorable mention KJCCC All-Conference recognition as he played in all 55 games for the Conqs. In the season, he hit .361 with 65 hits, 40 RBI, 23 walks, 38 runs scored, 19 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 11 stolen bases. He led the team in doubles and ranks eighth in single-season doubles. 
 
At shortstop, Vazquez earned honorable mention KJCCC All-Conference after playing 55 games for the Conqs in his freshman season. He hit .372 with 70 hits, 32 RBI, 54 runs scored, 23 walks, 13 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 21 stolen bases. Vazquez led the team in runs scored and was second in hits, while also leading the team in stolen bases and ranking tenth in a single season. 
 
On the mound, it was a strong finish to the season for Stewart, who tossed three complete games down the stretch and picked up honorable mention KJCCC All-Conference honors at pitcher. He amassed seven wins in 16 appearances with 13 starts throwing 59.2 innings, recording 48 strikeouts. Stewart finishes his two-year career at Dodge City with 10 total wins, which ranks ninth in career wins in school history. 
 
In the outfield, Harrison was a staple for the Conqs in right field, playing in all 55 games in his freshman season, earning him honorable mention KJCCC All-Conference honors. He hit .316 with 59 hits, 59 RBI, 19 walks, 49 runs scored, 14 doubles, three triples, 11 stolen bases, and 12 home runs on the season. Harrison led the team in RBI while he was second in home runs; he also finished tenth in a single season in school history in RBI. 
 
In two seasons under Coach Kelly, 11 players have earned KJCCC All-Conference honors.
