Former Conq Baseball Player Andrew Detlefsen Named AAC Player of the Year for UTSA

From Cavalier Field in Dodge City to NCAA Division I competition, Andrew Detlefsen made a name for himself on the diamond, transferring from Dodge City to the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he put together two strong seasons, including a stellar 2026 year. 

Detlefsen's senior year with the Roadrunners of UTSA earned him American Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors as UTSA won the regular-season AAC title, finishing 38-20 and as runner-up in the AAC tournament. 

The Trophy Club, Texas, native during the 2026 season led UTSA in multiple stats, playing and starting 57 games with a .386 batting average, 96 hits, 66 runs scored, 22 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, 70 RBI, and 14 walks, while recording a 1.101 OBS. He was awarded AAC Player of the Year, along with first-team all-conference, and was selected to the AAC all-tournament team. 

In his junior year at UTSA, Detlefsen was recognized with Co-Newcomer Position Player of the Year honors along with second-team all-conference. His two seasons with the Roadrunners saw him play 117 games, recording a .349 batting average with 167 hits, 40 doubles, 27 HR, and 140 RBI. 

Detlefsen suited up for the Conquistadors during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, playing in 95 games with a .313 batting average with 89 hits, 70 RBI, 25 walks, 15 doubles, four triples, 69 runs scored, and 19 home runs. He finished ninth in career home runs in school history. 

He put together a pair of strong years on the diamond for UTSA, etching his name into the history books at UTSA.
