Hutchinson Drops Dodge Women’s Soccer 6-3 at Home

DODGE CITY, Kansas: Dodge City women’s soccer fell in a 6-3 blowout to Hutchinson today.

Box Score DODGE CITY, Kansas:  Dodge City women's soccer fell in a 6-3 blowout to Hutchinson today.

The Blue Dragons went up 3-0 before half and despite the Conquistador rally attempts; the opposition snagged a 6-3 victory.

"Hutch is a good team, we played intimidated today," commented head coach Tim Romanello.  "We didn't play with the conviction that this group normally does."

"We are more than capable and three goals against a strong team proves it."

In the second minute of the second half, Conq forward Erica Ramos put through her first goal of the day.  With things looking up for the women, the opposition returned the goal with one of their own to go up 4-1.

Then just 39 seconds later, Jessica Klemetson took a free kick from 36 yards out and sent it straight back into the top-center of the goal, putting the score at 4-2.

As happened the goal before, merely seconds later, the Blue Dragons scored again.

After the opening ten minutes of the second half quieted down, the Conqs would grab their third and final opportunity at a goal in the 86th minute of play.  Daniela Torannini passed the ball into Ramos at the 15-yard line, went one-versus-one with the goal and won, bringing the score up to 5-3 with minutes left to play.

A little over a minute later, the Blue Dragons gained possession again, earning a free kick opportunity just 10 yards in front of the goalie.  Despite the Conq blockade in front of the goal, the opposing forward ripped the ball to the top of the net for her third goal of the match.

"We give a gift of a goal to start the game; we have an own goal situation; we give up two breakaway goals after Rachel goes off injured...it's a slippery slope of what if, but we have to take positives and build confidence from thos positive moments, fix the poor ones and hop back on the horse and go harder at training and with our next opponent" finished Romanello.

Elyssia Lucio spent the match in between the posts, posting six saves on the day.  Ramos put in four shots for two goals, Tornnini tallied one assist and Klemetson was good for a goal and three shots as well.

Kristina Trinceri also posted three shots, with Kayla Turner earning two and Rachel VanBuskirk posting one.

The Conqs will take a few days off, and will return to play on September 27.  Keep track of games and schedules at www.goconqs.com.
