Dodge City women's soccer started a new era under head coach Julio Guerrero with a bang as the offense was firing on all cylinders, leading to a 13-0 rout of Trinidad State in the season opener. 
The Conquistadors, for the first time since 2016, scored double-digit goals in a game and recorded the second-most goals in a game in school history (school record: 14 in a 14-0 win over Oakton (IL) in 2005). The 13 goals surpass last year's total goals scored for the Conqs during the season. 

Conqs wasted little time to get rolling as they got on the board in the eighth minute as Adriana Garcia Caceres netted the first goal of the season for the Conqs on a pass from Maria Rincon Fernandez. In the 16^th minute, the Conqs' lead extended to 2-0 as Rinka Hayashi scored and started a chain of three goals in four minutes for the Conqs as Lucia Bennett and Sarah Rollow each tallied a goal, and the Conqs led 4-0 20 minutes into the contest. Six more goals were posted in the first half by the Conqs as Rollow and Garcia Caceres each added their second goals, while Bennett tallied two more and Victoria Tierce and Alejandra Arevalo Gutierrez each added a goal. 

Leading 10-0 at halftime, the Conqs finished out the game in 70 minutes via mercy rule and added three goals in the second half as Rollow and Garcia Caceres joined Bennett with a hat-trick on the each for each, and Layla Moreno Cantalejo joined the scoring party with a goal as the Conqs won 13-0. 

The Conqs recorded 35 shots with 21 on goal in the season opener, while Connie Furby in goal and the Conqs overall recorded the clean sheet defensively. Furby finished with three saves. 

Up next, the Conqs will take on #9 Trinity Valley on the road in Athens, Texas on Friday, August 28^th at 1:00 pm. The matchup with Rose State on Monday, August 24^th has been cancelled due to anticipated heat.
