Box Score DODGE CITY, Kansas:  With the close game from the start, Conq fans knew it would be an exciting game from start to finish, and they were not disappointed.  The game came down to the final three seconds in fact as the Conqs would fight for a 41-yard field goal by Dillon Burkhard to edge out the Huskies 27-24 on the day.

The first quarter was evenly tied with the opposition scoring first at the 7:45 mark.  Husky QB Zeph Miller tossed a 75-yard connection to Seth Hill to go up over the Conqs.

DC3 would answer with 43 seconds left in the first quarter on a 37-yard Deondre FordChristian Booker connection the tied things up.

The Conqs were the first to score in the second quarter when Mark Thompson put in a 51-yard rush effort through the end zone to put the Conqs up 14-7.

USAFA put in a 25-yard field goal with roughly five minutes left to go in the half to close the game 14-10, but DC3 was quick to come back with a 45-yard field goal by Conq Burkhard with four seconds left to go in the half, putting the Conqs seven points ahead of the opposition with a half to play.

US Air Force Academy scored at the 10:00 mark to open scoring in the second half.  The Huskies worked downfield for a touchdown to even things up 17-17, and they continued their attack at 5:32 on a 10-yard pass from Miller to Mitch McCulley that put the score at 24-17 with the Conqs trailing.

The fourth quarter was quiet to start, but the end was owned by the Conqs.  Starting their drive at 5:26, the Conqs worked downfield for 62 yards in five plays and 1:28 minutes of possession for a touchdown to even the game 24-24.  Mark Thompson put the finishing touches on the play for DC3 with a short 3-yard run to snag the TD.

The next four minutes were back and forth with no one finding the scoring option.  Air Force picked up possession with 1:11 on the clock and worked to the DC3 13 yard line, but the Conqs forced a turnover on downs after allowing the visitors only two yards on the drive.

DC3 knew this was their last attempt, or the game would head into overtime.  With 34 seconds on the game clock, Ford opened the drive with an eight-yard pass to Jeff George who headed out of bounds to stop the clock.

Ford found George once again in the next play on the right side, but the officials called the play out of bounds before the catch and returned the ball to the DC3 21.  The Conqs kept edging forward with a one-yard rush by Keymonne Gabriel and a penalty that put the Conqs at the DC3 37.

Ford then passed a 43-yard gem to James Newton who reached the USAFA 20 and earned another first down.  After a few timeouts and a forced four-yard deficit, DC3 set up for a 41-yard field goal attempt.  Burkhard put the kick through and then some for the 27-24 Conq victory, breaking Dodge City's five-game losing streak.
