Omarion Lewis & Sherrod Lay Named KJCCC Offensive & Special Teams Players of the Week

October 06, 2026

Three straight wins as Dodge City football at 4-2 on the season and #11 in the national NJCAA Division I rankings. Several Conquistadors also earned conference recognition for their performances in the Conqs' most recent win, a 28-21 road victory over #5 NEO.

Omarion Lewis and Sherrod Lay have been named KJCCC Offensive and Special Teams "Player of the Week," respectively, with their big contributions in the Conqs 28-21 win at #5 NEO.

Lewis had his best game as a Conq, grabbing eight passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. He scored the first points of the day for the Conqs and caught the game-tying touchdown, a 90-yard catch-and-run. This two-touchdown performance is his third game this season with two touchdown catches, and his second 100+ yard game, while he has four games with 80+ yards receiving. He leads the conference in receptions (34), receiving yards (566), yards per game (94.3), and receiving touchdowns (7), while ranking third in yards per catch (16.6).

Lay put the Conqs ahead for the first time on the day after the defense forced an NEO punt, returning it 86 yards for a touchdown with 1:22 remaining. His special teams play marks the third straight week the Conqs had a scoring play or play that lead to a score from the special teams unit.

With the recognition for Lewis and Lay the Conqs have now had six players earn KJCCC Player of the Week honors this season; the most in a season since 2023.

The Conqs are back home to continue the season on Saturday, October 10th, hosting Ellsworth for a noon kickoff.
