Football Moves Up Two Spots to #11 in Latest NJCAA DI Rankings

October 05, 2026

Moving on up. The Dodge City football team picked up a huge road win over the weekend, beating #5 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 28-21 for their third straight win and improved to 4-2 on the season.

The win moved the Conquistadors up two spots in the latest NJCAA Division I rankings, landing them at #11 this week. It marks the second straight week for the Conqs in the rankings and their highest ranking since the final poll of the 2023 season.

A pair of KJCCC schools continue to join the Conqs in the rankings as Hutchinson remains atop the poll at #1 and Butler comes in at #14; Garden City is also receiving votes this week. Two other schools in the alliance with the KJCCC are ranked as Iowa Western and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, ranked #3 and #10, respectively.

Offensively the Conqs are putting up 25.8 points per game on the season, averaging 343.5 yards per game both numbers that rank third in the KJCCC. Through the air the Conqs are averaging 162.7 yards per game and have 11 passing touchdowns, while on the ground they are averaging 180.8 yards per game with six rushing touchdowns. Their 180.8 yards on the ground per game is second in the KJCCC only 2.5 yards behind the top team.

On defense the Conqs are holding teams to under 300 yards per game ranking second in the KJCCC in total yards per game, along with passing and rushing yards per game. Conqs have found ways to find the end zone on defense with two defensive touchdowns on the season.

Special teams continue to have an impact with big plays, especially over the last few weeks for the Conqs. The Conqs in the matchup against NEO had a huge fake punt conversion on fourth down and an 86-yard punt return in the final two minutes to earn the win.

Conqs return home for their next game as they will host Ellsworth for homecoming on Saturday, October 10th for a noon kickoff.
