Dodge City track and field wrapped up the outdoor season with a handful of athletes competing at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico.
After finishing seventh in the pentathlon in the indoor season,
Olivia Leatherman competed at nationals for the second straight year, this time in the heptathlon, earning a tenth-place finish to cap her Conq career. Leatherman totaled 4,172 points, besting her own school record. Her best finish in the seven events was in the first event, the 100-meter hurdles, taking fifth with a time of 14.54. Leatherman finished seventh in the long jump (5.16m), eighth in the 800-meter run (2:41.13), ninth in the shot put (9.19m) and 200-meter dash (26.52), tenth in high jump (1.42m), and 11th in javelin (22.89m).
Deven Bolton posted a leap of 1.97 meters (6'05.5") to capture 13th place finish in the high jump, finishing in his Conq career.
In the hammer throw,
James Littlewood recorded a throw of 45.36 meters (148'10"), finishing 20th in the event.
Also in action was
Josue Vega in the 10,000-meter run, and
Brier Thompson competed in the decathlon after both qualifying for nationals during the outdoor season.
Conqs wrapped up the outdoor season by competing at the highest level and putting together some solid performances.
