It was a 2-0 week for the Dodge City women's basketball team as they earned wins over Fort Hays Tech Northwest and Garden City, both on the road, to improve to 23-3 on the season.
The 2-0 week has the Conquistadors moving up in the latest NJCAA Division I rankings, sliding up one spot to #7 in the latest poll. The ranking marks 26th straight polls featuring the Conqs in the Top 10, while the Conqs have been ranked in 56 of the last 57 polls.
Two KJCCC teams remain ranked alongside the Conqs, with Butler remaining at #2 and Hutchinson moving up four spots to #13.
Offensively, the Conqs continue to put up numbers that rank as one of the best teams in the nation, averaging 77 points per game on 44.8% shooting, ranking 19th and 12th, respectively, in the NJCAA. Three-point shooting continues to help lead the Conqs as they average 12.3 made threes per game on 34.2 three-point attempts per game, while shooting 36% form behind the arc, ranking first, second, and third in the NJCAA in those categories. Conqs move the ball well, recording an assist on 71% of their made field goals, averaging 19.7 assists per game, ranking fifth in the NJCAA.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Conqs are holding teams to 55.8 points per game on 35.8% shooting and just 27.2% from three-point range. Conqs are forcing teams into 18.9 turnovers per game.
Three games remain in the regular season for the Conqs as the season continues Wednesday, February 25th, with the Conqs taking on #2 Butler at 5:30 pm. Conqs will then host Independence on Saturday, February 28th at 1:00 pm, as it will be sophomore day, and the regular season will wrap up on Wednesday, March 4th, against Seward County on the road.
