The Dodge City women's basketball team continues to be a top featured team in the NJCAA Division I national rankings, as they have been in the top five all season, top 10 in now 22 straight polls, and have been ranked in 52 of the last 53 polls.
The Conquistadors remained at #3 in the latest rankings after opening the second half of KJCCC action with wins over Barton (70-51) and Cowley (78-68) to improve to 18-1 and 13-1 in conference play.
Two other KJCCC schools continue to be featured in the national polls. Butler jumped four spots to right behind the Conqs at #4, while Hutchinson slipped to #20. Coffeyville continues to knock on the door of the top 25 as they are receiving votes.
The Conqs continue to lead the KJCCC in several offensive categories and rank in the Top 20, and lead the NJCAA in many offensive numbers. Conqs are averaging 77.9 points per game on 45.5% shooting, ranking 20th and 11th in the NJCAA. The three-point basket continues to spearhead the Conqs offense as they average 12.1 made threes on 33.6 attempts per game, having made 230 on the season, all three numbers lead the NJCAA. As a team, the Conqs are shooting 33.6% from behind the arc (5th in NJCAA), while they have some strong ball movement and share the ball well with 20.1 assists per game, ranking sixth in the NJCAA.
Defensively, the Conqs have stymied opponents throughout the season as they have the 19th ranked scoring defense giving up just 54.3 points per game on 35.6% shooting. While holding teams to just 26.7% from three-point range and forcing 19.2 turnovers by their opponents per game.
The Conqs have 10 more games remaining in the regular season as they look to capture a top-tier finish in the KJCCC and vie for the conference title. The season continues Saturday, January 31st, at home against Cloud County at 1:00 pm.
