Dodge City women's basketball rolled past Barton to open the second portion of Jayhawk Conference play, picking up a 70-51 victory at home.
The Conquistadors improved to 17-1 with the win and 12-1 in the KJCCC and remain atop the conference standings. The win is the ninth in a row in the series with Barton.
The Conqs established early control, working to a 10-0 advantage halfway through the first quarter and going up 13-0 before Barton got their first points in the final minute of the first quarter. Leading 13-4 after the first ten minutes of action, the Conqs would work to a 25-9 advantage with a 12-5 run three and a half minutes into the second quarter. At halftime, the Conqs were up 34-19 and would hold Barton at arm's length throughout the second half, continually spreading the offense around to cruise to the 70-51 victory.
Conqs finished the night shooting 41.7%, hitting 11 three-pointers, while Barton shot 40.7% but was 0-9 from three-point range in the contest.
A quartet of double-figure scorers paced the Conqs on the night, led by
Savi Mi, who tallied 17 points on 7-9 shooting, adding four assists.
Manuela Piljevic chipped in 14 points, going 4-4 from the free throw line, while
Saje Evans had 10 points and five rebounds.
Jade Célérier added a 10-point and six-assist performance. Sophia Ahmed tallied seven points, while
Mailey Cunningham grabbed a career-high nine rebounds.
Conqs will continue the season Monday, January 26th at 5:30 pm against Cowley in Arkansas City.
