For the first time this academic year, the Conquistadors have a NJCAA National Player of the Week as men's soccer goalkeeper,
Geovanni De Luna, picks up the honors for the second time in his career.
Dodge City picked up a 2-1 win at home over #6 Barton last Sunday, and De Luna was strong in the goal, recording eight saves while facing nine shots on goal. De Luna's performance first got him the nod as KJCCC Division I Goalkeeper of the Week before the national honors.
With the win over Barton, the Conqs moved to 5-0-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in conference play, while also jumping up five spots to #12 in the NJCAA Division I national rankings.
This season, De Luna has started four matches in goal with a 3-0-1 record, recording 20 saves and boasting an 80% save percentage. He leads the KJCCC in saves.
De Luna, during his freshman season, also earned conference and national player of the week honors in week nine of the season.
The Conqs turn into road warriors to continue the season, as their next two matches are on the road against Seward County on Wednesday, September 24th, and against #4 Cowley on Saturday, September 27th.
