Men's Soccer Edges Seward County With Pair of Late Goals to Win 3-2 on the Road

September 25, 2025

Box Score Dodge City men's soccer claimed victory on the road in a crazy matchup against Seward County that would see five second-half goals by both teams, leading to a 3-2 Conquistador win.

The Conqs with the win improved to 6-0-2 on the year and 3-0-1 in KJCCC action, remaining undefeated on the season. The win also improves them to 3-1-1 all-time against Seward County.

The first half saw both teams have solid chances, but neither was able to break through, leaving the game scoreless through the first 45 minutes of action. The pace would pick up in the second half, and so would the scoring as the Conqs jumped in front in the 49th minute as Francesco Valenti tallied his fourth goal of the season off an Ishmael Jones pass. Seven minutes later, Seward County took advantage of an uncleared ball in the box and drew even at 1-1. Just a minute later, the Saints of Seward County grabbed another opportunity in the box and finished to lead 2-1.

In the 72nd minute, Seward County was awarded a corner kick and would nearly take a two-goal lead as the ball was pushed out over the crossbar, but the Conqs remained down one. Just moments later, the Conqs would win a free kick in the attacking third, and Musashi Tanaka would find Sota Kido for a header that appeared to tie the game, but the Conqs were called offside, keeping the game at 2-1. Conqs' resiliency continued down the stretch as Zade Douglas tossed a throw-in deep in the attacking third and Davide Dalla Francesca tapped the ball to Soma Kanazawa, who delivered the equalizer in the 77th minute. Even at 2-2, the Conqs continued to be aggressive, and Dalla Francesca found Kanazawa again in the 81st minute, lifting the Conqs back in front at 3-1 and holding on to the advantage, earning the 3-2 win.

Conqs would outshoot Seward County 20-11 in the contest, getting a pair of goals from Kanazawa and one goal from Valenti. Geovanni De Luna tallied five saves in goal.

Up next, the Conqs will have to line up for an undefeated clash on the road against #4 Cowley at 4:30 pm in Arkansas City.
