Women's Basketball Ranked #1 For Fourth Straight Week

December 08, 2025

Dodge City women's basketball continued their strong start to the season, going 2-0 last week to improve to 10-0 and remain ranked #1 in the latest NJCAA Division I rankings.

The Conquistadors topped Colby 64-48 at home and beat #25 Coffeyville on the road 68-60 to move to 10-0 on the season and 5-0 in KJCCC action. The 10-0 start to the season is the best for the program since the 2004-05 season and the third-longest win streak under Head Coach Landon Steele

The Conqs have now been ranked #1 for four-straight weeks and featured in the Top 10 for 17-straight polls. Forty-seven of the last 48 polls have featured the Conqs. Three other KJCCC schools remained in the rankings: #14 Butler, #18 Hutchinson, and #25 Coffeyville.

Offensively, the Conqs lead the Jayhawk Conference in scoring at 80.5 points per game while shooting 46.3% which ranks 14th in the NJCAA. The three-point basket has been a key piece of the arsenal for the Conqs, as they've made 129 threes on the season, the second most in the NJCAA and the most in the KJCCC, with 40 more than the second most in the conference. Conqs lead the NJCAA in threes made per game at 12.9 and attempted per game at 34.8, while ranking fifth in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 37.1%. Ball distribution has been strong all season as the Conqs share the ball with 21.8 assists per game (third in NJCAA), leading to four players averaging double figures and 11 players averaging over three points per game.

The Conqs defensively have stymied their opponents, giving up just 52.7 points per game, which ranks 19th in the NJCAA, as opponents are shooting just 34.6% from the floor. Conqs swipe away the ball against their opponents, averaging 13.1 steals per game, and are forcing 21.3 turnovers per game by their opponents.

Two games remain before the holiday break for the Conqs as they will host #18 Hutchinson on Wednesday, December 10th at 5:30 pm and then take on Pratt on Saturday, December 13th at 2:00 pm on the road.
