Dodge City women's basketball moved into the #1 spot in the NJCAA Division national rankings last week and remains in that spot this week after going 2-0 in action to open KJCCC play.
The Conquistadors are 7-0 on the season and off to the best start under head coach
Landon Steele. The Conqs picked up a 65-51 road win over Barton to open KJCCC play last week and capped the week with a 74-60 home victory over Cowley.
Offensively, the Conqs are getting contributions from all around, with four players averaging double figures and 10 players averaging over four points per game on the season. As a team, the Conqs are averaging 82.3 points per game on 46.7% shooting, with the three-point basket a big part of the action, averaging 14 made threes per game. Conqs also share the ball well, averaging 23.1 assists per game.
On defense, the Conqs are holding teams to just 49.7 points per game on 33.9% shooting while forcing 22.6 turnovers per game. Conqs average 14.3 steals and 3.4 blocks per game as they disrupt their opponent's flow.
Five games remain before Christmas break, with three on the road and two at home, including against a pair of fellow ranked KJCCC squads in Hutchinson and Coffeyville. The Conqs are in action next against Cloud County on the road on Saturday, November 29th at 2:00pm.
