Dodge City women's basketball closes out non-conference play with another convincing victory, topping Laramie County 86-45.
The win moves the Conquistadors to 5-0 to open the season as they now turn their attention to Jayhawk Conference play.
The Conqs worked to a 12-6 lead over the first five minutes of the contest and then outscored Laramie County 12-5 the rest of the first quarter to lead 24-11. The strong first quarter propelled the Conqs to halftime as they led 36-24. In the third quarter, the Conqs held Laramie County to just nine points while adding to their lead by seven points, and would go on to cap the game with a strong fourth quarter, scoring 34 points in the fourth for a 34-12 quarter to earn the 86-45 victory.
As a team, the Conqs shot 50% for the game and made 17 three-pointers, shooting 47.2% from behind the arc, while dishing out 32 assists. The Conqs also forced 22 Laramie County turnovers while only having 13 of their own.
A career-best 26 points on 9-12 shooting, including 6-9 from three-point range, led the way for the Conqs as
Manuela Piljevic posted the performance, adding five assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
Jolie Mantz had her best performance as a Conq, scoring 25 points on 9-13 shooting, including 7-10 from three-point range.
Saje Evans added nine points and six rebounds, while Jade Celériér finished with eight points, three rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
The Conqs now turn their attention to KJCCC action as they will open conference play on the road against Barton on Wednesday, November 19th at 5:30pm.
