Women's Cross Country Notches Strong Finish Led by Multiple Personal Records at Region 6 Championships

Dodge City women's cross country team was locked in a tight battle for the top spots in the region at the NJCAA Region 6 Championships in Winfield, Kansas the Conquistadors had several personal record times at the meet. 
 
The Conqs would finish third overall as a team in the combined NJCAA Division I and II team standings while taking fourth in the NJCAA Di team standings and second in the Jayhawk West. 
 
Six Conqs would record lifetime personal best times while one other had their best time of the season. Leading the way for the Conqs was Sarai Chavez who finished 13th with a sub-19-minute time of 18:53.93. Ivy Washington and Ava Washington followed Chavez in 14th and 15th place also going under 19 minutes with times of 18:54.69 and 18:56.87. The trio earned All-Region honors for their Top 15 finishes as all three had lifetime personal record performances. 
 
Daniela Cerda was shortly behind her teammates as she posted a time of 19:16.30 to finish in 18th place which is the best time of her career. Abbi Worden also had a lifetime personal record recording a time of 19:59.72 to earn a 24th-place finish, while Teressa Martinez who recorded her best time of the season finished 33rd with a time of 20:35.64. 
 
Debora Guevara-Borjon had her best time ever as she posted a time of 22:33.68 to place 54th overall. 
 
The #14 Conqs now prepare to compete at the NJCAA DI National Championship in Richmond, Virginia at Pole Green Park on Saturday, November 9th.
