Box Score DODGE CITY, Kan. - After losing to #2 Seward on Friday evening, the Conquistador softball team lost to #6 Northwest Tech on Saturday morning in an elimination game by a score of 10-2 to end their season.
Emily Stephenson got the start and allowed four runs without collecting an out before
Jordyn McDaniel threw the final 5.1 innings.
Dodge City collected just four hits in the game with three hits coming from
Brittney Gonzalez and one hit coming from
Alex Stecklein.
Gonzalez led off the game with a single to left field and after a groundout to second moved her to third,
Samantha Montano grounded out to shortstop to score a run for the Conqs and give them a 1-0 lead. Northwest Tech then got hot in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on five hits to quickly take a 5-1 lead.
After the Mavericks added one more in the bottom of the second to make it 6-1, neither team scored until the Conqs scored one run in the top of the fifth on a groundout to second base to cut the lead to 6-2. Northwest Tech then added four runs in the bottom of the sixth, capped off by a single up the middle to reach the run-rule, winning the game, 10-2 in six innings.
The Conqs finish the year with an overall record of 14-32 and finished with a record of 7-21 in KJCCC play.
