For the first time since 2002, the Dodge City softball team will compete at the NJCAA Division I World Series after winning the program's third region and district titles.
The Conquistadors sit at 46-17 on the season and have already put together a record-breaking season, establishing a new school record for wins in a season as they look to add to the total and make some noise at the national tournament.
The Conqs have been awarded the #20 seed and will play the #13 Seed College of Southern Idaho in the first round at 11:00 am on Monday, May 25th. Conqs will play again on Tuesday, May 26th – with a victory in the first round, the Conqs will advance to play the #4 seed Temple at 11:00 am, with a loss in the first round, the Conqs will play the loser of #3 seed Northeast Alabama or #14 Gaston/#19 Wabash Valley.
The NJCAA DI World Series is composed of 20 teams with 16 automatic qualifiers that won district titles, along with four at-large teams, and is a double-elimination tournament. Action is set May 25th-30th in Oxford, Alabama, at Choccolocco Park. The tournament will be live streamed on the NJCAA Network to start and transition to ESPN+ starting on day three, May 27th.
The Conqs are taking the best offensive production in a single season in school history into the national tournament as they have broken the single-season record for hits, RBI, runs, walks, doubles, triples, and home runs in program history, while ranking in the top 10 in the NJCAA in all those categories this season. This year, the Conqs are hitting .368, averaging 10 hits per game and scoring 8.9 runs per game. While the Conqs have been strong inside the circle throughout the season, also as they have a 3.22 team ERA, racking up 328 strikeouts and just an opponent batting average of .243.
Conqs are ready to embark on the journey to Alabama and continue to etch their name in the record books at Dodge City as they look to make a run at the NJCAA DI World Series starting on May 25th.
