It's been a historic season for Dodge City softball in several ways, and the season is not over yet, as the team won the Region 6 and Plains District titles to earn a spot at the NJCAA Division I World Series in Oxford, Alabama, on May 25th-30th.
The Conquistadors success in 2026 led eight players to be selected for KJCCC All-Conference honors and to one major award handed out to the Conqs as well. Head Coach
Mike Viramontez was named the KJCCC DI Coach of the Year in his third season leading the Conqs. First-team KJCCC All-Conference honors were picked up by
Karli George and
Loren Sweat, while the quartet of
Riley Moore,
Karen Galaviz,
Avery McCloskey, and
Sophie Faidley all were selected second team. Both
Harley Shoaf and
Cadie McCracken each earned honorable mention honors.
Coach Viramontez, in just his third season, has the Conqs putting together a spectacular season that has rewritten the record books at Dodge City. The Conqs sit at 46-17 on the season, breaking the single-season record for wins while winning the program's first region title since 2002 and earning a trip to the NJCAA DI World Series. The Conqs have shattered the school records for hits, RBI, runs scored, walks, doubles, triples, and home runs during the 2026 season, and rank in the top six in the NJCAA in all the categories.
