Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GARDEN CITY, Kan. - After splitting two games on Thursday, the Conquistadors were able to sweep the Broncbusters on the road, 4-1 and 5-4, to win three out of four games in the series.

William Cain got the start on the mound in game one, throwing five full innings and allowing just one run on four hits while striking out seven batters. Mahlyk Davis then threw the final two innings and allowed just one hit.

After a scoreless first inning, Tanner White led off the second with a double. After moving to third on a groundout, Garrett McGowan hit a deep fly ball to score White and give Dodge City a 1-0 lead.

Then with two outs in the top of the third inning, Cade Engle reached on a single and Brayden Cook followed it up with a double to score Engle and extend Dodge City's lead to 2-0.

In the top of the fifth inning, Garrett Allen reached on a single. After stealing second base and moving to third on a wild pitch, Allen was able to score on an error by the Garden City catcher to push the lead to 3-0 after the top of the fifth inning.

The Broncbusters were finally able to get on the board in the bottom of the fifth on back-to-back singles, but the Conquistadors responded in the top of the sixth as Dauson Tate reached on a walk and came around to score on a single from McGowan after the right fielder made an error on the play. The Busters were then able to get two baserunners in the bottom of the seventh, but a groundout ended the game and gave Dodge City a 4-1 win in game one. 

Foster Gifford made the most of getting the nod in game two, throwing six strong innings and allowing zero runs on just three hits before getting replaced. Mahlyk Davis, Joe Milano and Eric Lindsay all pitched in relief in game two as Davis gave up one hit and a walk, Milano pitched one inning and got two strikeouts and Lindsay threw two innings and gave up one run and got two strikeouts.

Tanner White continued his good day as he went 4-for-5 in game two with two singles and two doubles, while also driving in two runs.

After Cook doubled with two outs in the third and score on an error by the left fielder, Tanner White hit a double to score Colton Onstott and give Dodge City an early 2-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth, Cook reached again on a single and then scored on a two-run home run from Onstott to extend the Conquistador lead to 4-0.

The Broncbusters were able to cut the lead in half in the bottom of the seventh inning on a squeeze play and a sac-fly to make the score 4-2 with just two innings to play.

Again in the bottom of the eighth, Garden City added another run, this time scoring on a double play to cut the lead to one. Dodge City got one in the top of the ninth to push the lead back to two, but the Broncbusters threatened again in the ninth, scoring on a wild pitch. Lindsay would then get a strikeout to end the game and give Dodge City the 5-4 win.

Dodge City is now 17-9 on the year and 5-7 in KJCCC play. They will be in action again on Tuesday for a doubleheader vs. Tabor College JV beginning at 2 p.m.
