Conqs Offense Struggles vs. New Mexico Military

Box Score ROSWELL, N.M. – Collecting just two hits in the game, the Conquistador baseball team lost to New Mexico Military on Sunday in the final game of the series, 5-1.
 
It took until one out in the bottom of the third for the Broncos to collect their first hit of the game, but they made the most of it, scoring one run on a double to take a 1-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.
 
In the bottom of the fifth, the Broncos added two runs as they began the inning with three straight singles, followed by a sac-bunt and another single to make it 3-0.
 
Without a single hit in the inning, the Conqs were able to scratch a run across on an error to cut the lead to 3-1, heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.
 
A leadoff triple helped New Mexico Military get that run back in the bottom of the seventh as they pushed the lead back to three with just one out in the inning, 4-1.
 
In the bottom of the eighth, the Broncos added one final run after a leadoff single came around to score on a passed ball to make it, 5-1.
 
Dodge City was able to get two base runners in the top of the ninth, but they could not make anything of it as they lost, 5-1.
 
Dodge City is now 5-2 on the year and will be in action again tomorrow for a doubleheader against Luna Community College at 12 p.m. (MST) or 1 p.m. (CT).
