Box Score Conquistador Volleyball faced a big task on Monday night as they faced the #9 ranked and league leading Seward County Saints. After playing tough to open the match, the Conqs were outmanned as they lost the match in three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-11, and 25-17.
In the first set the Conqs came out fired up and played evenly with Seward for half of the set. At one point the Conqs only trailed 12-11. That was when the Saints went on a run and scored 12 of the next 13 points to take a 24-12 lead and eventually close out the set by the 25-14 score.
The second set was mostly dominated by Seward as they jumped out to an early 14 to 2 lead and never really looked back in the set. The Conqs had a brief run that drew the score to 19-9, but Seward again asserted their skill and finished out the set winning 25-11.
The final set saw Dodge City take an early lead at 7-6 and again at 8-7. Seward then used a 7-0 run to gain the lead at 14-8. From there they stretched out the lead, but Dodge made one more run to get the score to 20-14. In the end the Saints closed out the match by winning the third set 25-17.
