Dodge City volleyball got back into the win column on the road Saturday, taking down Seward County in straight sets for their 16
th win of the season: 25-16, 25-18, 25-8.
The Conquistadors improved to 16-5 on the season and 5-1 in KJCCC action with the victory, while making it seven straight wins over Seward County in the series.
The night started off back-and-forth as teams traded points early and often in the first set, but the Conqs eventually took control, working to a 13-9 advantage. Conqs outscored Seward County 12-7 down the stretch of the first set to take it 25-16. Set two again was tight but only for the first few points, as the Conqs lead expanded to five at 10-5 quickly, and they used that margin to slide past the Saints in the second, 25-18. Conqs took control early in the third set, jumping out to a 5-0 lead that grew to 11-3 and then 20-7, then scored the final five points of the set to take it 25-8 and win the match.
Eight different Conqs tallied a kill on the night, led by
Kayla Cantrill, who recorded 12 along with seven digs, while
Anete Celnova nearly had another double-double, finishing with 10 kills and nine digs.
Chelsea Durbridge had another strong outing with 29 assists, four kills, two aces, seven digs, and two blocks.
Conqs are back on the road on Wednesday, September 23
rd as they will take on Cloud County at 6:30 pm in Concordia, and then will return home to host #8 Colby on Saturday, September 26
th at 6:30 pm.
