Dodge City volleyball hit the road for conference play and took down Cloud County in straight sets 25-16, 25-11, 25-21 in Concordia.
The win improves the Conqs to 17-5 on the season, surpassing last season's win total and moving to 6-1 in KJCCC action.
The night started with back-and-forth action as the first set was tied 7-7, and then the Conqs went on a 6-0 run to lead 11-7. The Conqs stretched the 6-0 run into a 12-2 run, growing their lead to 17-9, but Cloud County answered back to cut the deficit to three before the Conqs finished the first set 25-16 with multiple aces. In the second set, the Conqs jumped to an early 7-4 lead and used the block to expand it throughout, going up 14-6, then 19-8, and winning 25-11. With a pair of aces early, the Conqs got up 4-1 to start the third set but Cloud County pushed back to tie the set at 10-10 and even took an 11-10 lead and it remained tight down the stretch, with the Conqs up 19-18 Cloud County took a timeout and the Conqs went on to finish the match 25-21.
The Conqs had a balanced attack on the night, led by their serving, with 18 team aces.
Sunni Skipps led the Conqs with seven aces, plus seven kills, five digs, and two assists, while
Kayla Cantrill had a team-high nine kills and seven digs.
Rian Muntaner recorded 13 digs with three aces, while
Chelsea Durbridge had 14 assists, two kills, three aces, two digs, and five block assists.
Delaney Childs chipped in five kills, two assists, two aces, and seven block assists.
