Box Score The Dodge City Community College volleyball team honored five players  that were taking the floor in the Student Activity Center for the final time in their career. The Conqs then went out and swept Bethany College JV in three sets to send them off with a big win.
In the first set the Conqs jumped out to a 3-0 lead only to see Bethany score three of their own to tie it up. Dodge City scored six of the next seven points to push out to a 9-4 lead forcing the Swedes to call a timeout. The break in the action did not slow the Conqs down as they continued their dominance, pushing the lead out to 18-8. They would maintain close to that margin the rest of the way as they won set one by a score of 25-15. The second set saw the two teams in a tight battle through the first thirteen points of the set at Dodge led 7-6. The Conqs would rattle off three straight points to lead 10-6 before the Swedes wanted a timeout. Dodge would continue applying the pressure as they stretched their lead out to 20-13, when Bethany used their final timeout of the set. The Conqs didn't miss a beat as they scored five of the next six points to close out the second set by a score of 25-14. The final set would start very differently for the two teams. Bethany actually jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before the Conqs got refocused. They would eventually tie the score at seven and then score five of the next six points to take a 12-8 lead. The two teams played evenly through the next eight points, but the Conqs had another run in them as they stretched their lead out to 21-13. Bethany would battle at that point, but Dodge put the set and the match away with a 25-16 score.
The win finished out the regular season for Dodge City as they posted a 7-23 final record. They will travel to Seward County Community College in Liberal next Wednesday for a NJCAA Region VI Playoff first round game. Gametime will be 6:30pm.
