Box Score The Dodge City Community College women's soccer team used a shutout from
Alexis McKinnon and the entire defense on sophomore night to push past the Hesston College Larks. One goal each half was enough to give the Conqs the 2-0 win.
In the first half the Conqs got off to a slow start as they were not able to get much moving on the offensive end, but Hesston also never posed a scoring threat, a trend that would basically stay in place the entire game. Finally in the 21
st minute of the game
Renica Beauplan broke through for Dodge City taking a ball that was bouncing in front of the goal and putting it in the back of the net. The half would end with the Conqs leading by that 1-0 score.
In the second half Dodge City looked like they had found more of an offensive rhythm and scored their next goal in the ninth minute of the half. This time
Alejandra Arreola found a gap on the back side of the Lark defense and put one in the lower 90 to give the Conqs a 2-0 lead. Despite having multiple offensive opportunities in the last 35 minutes, the Conqs were not able to capitalize and the game ended with the 2-0 Conq win.
Dodge City will travel to rival Garden City on Sunday to complete the regular season. The Conqs have secured the #4 seed from the west and will start their NJCAA Region VI Tournament next Thursday on the road.
