Dodge City women's soccer would take #19 Hutchinson to the wire and then some as they forced overtime in the first round of the NJCAA Plains District playoffs, ultimately seeing their season ended with a tough 1-0 loss.
The Conquistadors would buckle defensively and challenge Hutchinson throughout as the Blue Dragons fired off 18 first-half shots to the Conqs' three, but the matchup would remain scoreless after the first 45 minutes. The second half would see Hutchinson on the attack again, as the Conqs continued to stymie the Blue Dragons with strong defense all-around, and the contest hit zeros on the clock at a 0-0 score, pushing the matchup into overtime. In the overtime period, the Conqs' defense held up for another six minutes, but 6:15 into the extra period, Hutchinson tallied the lone goal of the contest to cap the game 1-0.
In the loss, the Conqs were out shot 33-3 with shots from
Mette Battling,
Layla Moreno Cantalejo, and
Lucia Bennett.
Lucy Goss was strong in goal as she recorded 13 shots.
The Conqs capped the season with a 6-11 record, marking the most wins in a season since 2019, but finished just 4-10 in KJCCC action, placing seventh in the conference.
