The struggles continued for the Dodge City women's soccer team as they hosted #7 Cowley in the final home game of the season, falling 5-0 to the Tigers.
The loss drops the Conquistadors to 6-9 on the season and 4-9 in conference play.
Cowley would go on the attack early, and the Conqs would try to stymie the Tigers' offensive opportunities, but the Tigers pounced on an early lead, scoring in the third minute of the contest. It would remain just 1-0 for a majority of the first half until the 31st minute when Cowley tacked on another goal and then one more from 50 yards out in the 36th minute, leading to a 3-0 score at halftime in favor of Cowley. The Conqs in the second half continued to struggle to find offensive opportunities and would see the Tigers tally two more goals, finishing the game 5-0.
The Conqs were outshot 33-2 in the matchup, with
Kenza Daher-Hassan tallying the Conqs' only two shots.
Kimya Kante-Mavuba and
Lucy Goss each played a half in the goal for the Conqs, recording seven and six saves each.
The regular season will wrap up for the Conqs on Saturday, October 25th, at 1:00 pm when they travel to El Dorado to compete against Butler.
