Box Score 2 EL DORADO, Kan. -- In a doubleheader rescheduled several times due to weather, a tournament and an inability to get umpires to Dodge City, the Dodge City Community College softball team was the home team at No. 6 Butler's ballpark and was swept by the Grizzlies 8-0 and 10-0 Monday evening.
The losses mean nothing in terms of this upcoming week's Region VI Tournament as the Conquistadors (19-21 overall, 11-13) were already the No. 4 seed and will play No. 5 Seward County 1 p.m. Friday in the opening round back in El Dorado. As for Butler (42-4, 23-1), it had already clinched its sixth consecutive KJCCC title and improved its win streak to a program-best 28 games.
In game one Monday of a doubleheader that was originally scheduled for Dodge City last Thursday, Butler blasted four home runs (two each by Alexis Clinton and Megan Wurts) while Dodge City had one hit.
Kim Herron got the loss, going four innings and giving up seven runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and four walks.
Candace Bollig had the Conqs' lone hit as she went 1-for-2.
Regan Mergele got the win to improve to 21-3 on the season, going three perfect innings and striking out three for the Grizzlies.
In game two, Butler scored eight first-inning runs and coasted to the 10-0 win.
Mia Trujillo got the loss for DC3, going 0.2 innings and giving up six runs on two hits with three walks and a strikeout.
Kayla Frazier had DC3's lone hit in the game.
Jennifer Hittinger got the win, going three innings and giving up one hit with seven strikeouts and one walk. Wurts went 1-for-3 with three RBI to pace the Grizzlies.
