NOTES: DC3 softball tries to get back on track at Seward County

DODGE CITY, Kan. -- Riding a six-game losing streak, the Dodge City Community College softball team tries to get back on track 2 p.m. Saturday when it takes on Seward County in Liberal.

Individual Stats

- The Conquistadors dropped their first two KJCCC games of the season at Colby, 5-3 and 5-2, on Wednesday. In the first game DC3 led 3-1 after four innings and 3-2 after five before a three-run sixth for the Trojans cost the Conqs.

- DC3's hitting, which entered the game hitting .300, went cold against Colby - managing a combined eight hits in the two games.

- The Conqs have six players hitting .325 or better: Taylor Menard (.387), Marina Kelly (.342), Candace Bollig (.333), Taryn Garza (.333) and Kaylie Schoendaller (.325). However, the Conqs don't have another player hitting above .220.

- Bollig blasted her fourth home run of the season Wednesday - tied for sixth in the conference. She has been hit by five pitches this season, tied for first in the KJCCC, and is 10th in the conference in slugging percentage (.806).

- Kim Herron continues to lead the Conqs in the circle in wins (three), ERA (2.63), strikeouts (20) and innings pitched (37.1).

Individual Stats

- Seward County has dropped eight of its last nine games after splitting a doubleheader at Lamar on Thursday. Saturday's contests will be the Saints' first KJCCC games of the season.

- The Saints' season has been one of streaks as Seward County started the season 0-6 followed by winning four straight before its recent streak of losing eight of its last nine games.

- The Saints' hitting has proven potent as they've had at least five hits in each game, are hitting .358 and averaging 5.9 runs per game.

- Brittany Corrales has been the Saints' most dangerous hitter with a .541 average (fifth in the KJCCC), two home runs, 20 RBI (fifth) and five doubles.


- In the circle the Saints have an ERA of 8.01. Kelly Kearney has been Seward County's top pitcher as the freshman is 4-3 with a 4.68 ERA and 12 strikeouts in a team-high 46.1 innings.
