NOTES: DC3 softball tries to stay in hunt for 3rd, hosts Colby Wednesday

DODGE CITY, Kan. -- The Dodge City Community College softball team looks to stay in the hunt for third place as the Conquistadors host third-place Colby 2 p.m. Wednesday at Legends Park.


DC3 BREAKDOWN (13-13 overall, 5-7 KJCCC)

Individual Stats

- The Conqs are coming off a pair of losses Monday to No. 8 Butler, 11-3 and 13-0. Candace Bollig and Kaylie Schoendaller each hit a home run to account for all of DC3's runs.

- DC3's 13-0 loss in game two Monday was just the third time DC3 has been shut out this season.

- DC3 dropped a pair of close contests to Colby on the road earlier this season, falling 5-3 and 5-2 on March 2. The Conqs were held to four hits in each game, which included a Bollig two-run homer in game two.

- Bollig's home run Monday was her fifth on the season and moved her into a tie for sixth in the conference (Division I and Division II). She's also 12th in batting average (.410), third in on-base percentage (.520) and fourth in slugging (.795).

- DC3's Taylor Menard and Baylee Rial are also hitting .350 or better with Menard at .359 to go along with 17 RBI (second on the team) while Rial is hitting .350 with seven RBI and 17 runs (tied for second on the team).

- Despite a rough outing Monday, DC3 pitcher Kim Herron still owns a 2.95 ERA - good for sixth in the conference. She's also sixth in the conference in innings pitched (85.1) and is eighth in wins (eight).

Individual Stats

- Since dropping a doubleheader at Butler 6-0 and 12-1 on March 21, the Trojans have won four straight - including a doubleheader sweep of Seward County on Friday, 5-0 and 11-2.

- Since March 2's doubleheader sweep of Dodge City, Colby is 13-3 with its only losses coming to Butler (twice) and Otero Junior College.

- In the Trojans' sweep of DC3, they swatted three home runs (Rachel Van Gulick, Dani Asche, Madison Motes). As a team, Colby has hit 28 home runs - tied for second in the KJCCC. Collette West leads the team with seven as 10 players have homered for the Trojans.

- West leads the Trojans in several categories, including batting average (.457), slugging (.830), RBI (39) and doubles (10) as well as being second in stolen bases (17 - Shelbie Day leads Colby with a KJCCC-best 27).

- Kylee Burnside leads the Trojans in the circle as she is 10-2 with a 2.70 ERA, five saves and 52 strikeouts in 90.2 innings. Mara Nash isn't far behind, however, as she is 7-3 with a 3.47 ERA, five saves and 94 strikeouts (second in the KJCCC) in 70.2 innings.
