Box Score 2 EL DORADO, Kan. -- The Dodge City Community College softball team fell on the road twice to eighth-ranked Butler, 11-3 and 13-0, Monday at East Park.
In the first game the Conquistadors (13-13 overall, 5-7 KJCCC) cut the Butler (24-4, 9-1) lead to 3-1 in the top of the third on a solo home run by
Candace Bollig.
But the Grizzlies scored two in the bottom of the third and three more in the fourth inning to take an 8-1 advantage.
Kaylie Schoendaller hits a two-run home run for the Conqs in the fifth before Butler forced the eight-run rule in the sixth with three runs to make the final 11-3.
Other than the Bollig and Schoendaller home runs, DC3's only other hit was a single by
Baylee Rial.
Kim Herron picked up the loss, going 5.1 innings for the Conqs and giving up 10 runs on 13 hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
Butler hit three home runs in the game, two coming from Alexis Clinton who finished 3-for-4 (her other hit was a double) with three runs and three RBI.
Regan Mergele got the win for the Grizzlies, going five innings and giving up three runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.
In game two, Butler scored six runs apiece in the second and third innings after scoring one in the first to take a 13-0 lead and eventually force the mercy rule after five.

Heather Amen had DC3's three hits - each singles.
Hannah Feagler got the loss, going 2.1 innings and giving up six runs on six hits with a walk.
Butler's Megan Wurts and Haylee Lorenz each hit a home run and a double in the game with Lorenz finishing with four RBI and Wurts with three.
Jennifer Hittinger got the win for the Grizzlies, going four innings and giving three hits with four strikeouts.
DC3 returns home to play Colby 2 p.m. Wednesday at Legends Park.
