Box Score 2 GARDEN CITY, Kan. - The Dodge City Community College softball team scored 29 runs in run ruling Garden City twice, 12-4 and 17-4, on Saturday.
In the first game, Dodge City (12-10 overall, 4-4 KJCCC) scored a run in five of the six innings, pounded out 13 hits and took advantage of nine Broncbuster (7-17, 0-8) errors to come away with the 12-4 victory in six innings.
Taylor Menard led the way for DC3, going 4-for-5 with two runs, a stolen base and two RBI.
Marina Kelly was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, two runs and a stolen base,
Candace Bollig was 2-for-4 with four runs and two stolen bases and
Kayla Frazier went 2-for-4.
Kim Herron picked up the win, going the distance and giving up four runs (two earned) on 11 hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
Kaitlyn Bean got the loss for Garden City, giving up 12 runs (six earned) on 13 hits with four strikeouts and five walks. Erin Jankiewicz led the Broncbusters at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run and RBI.
In game two, DC3 scored seven runs in the first and six runs in the second to build a 13-0 lead to cruise to the 17-4 win in five innings.
Kaylie Schoendaller went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI, Herron was 3-for-4 with four RBI and Frazier and Kelly each had three hits and an RBI apiece as well.
Hannah Feagler got the win, going five innings and giving up four runs (two earned) on eight hits with a strikeout and a walk.
Shaylene Shepherd got the loss for Garden City, going all five innings and giving up 17 runs (16 earned) on 20 hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Jankiewicz, Hailey Motherwell and Kalie Vernon had two hits apiece for the Broncbusters.
The Conqs return home to host Pratt in a doubleheader starting 2 p.m. Wednesday at Legends Park.
