Volleyball Ends Season In Region VI Tourney at Seward

Box Score LIBERAL, Kan. - Looking to pull an upset and advance in the NJCAA Region VI Tournament, the No. 7-seeded Dodge City Community College volleyball team had their hopes dashed in a 3-0 loss to No. 2 seed Seward County in three sets (22-25, 22-25, 20-25) at the Greenhouse in Liberal on Wednesday, November 2nd.

DC3 ends their season at 21-16 while the Saints move onto this weekend's semifinal match to be played in Hutchinson.

As was the case the last time these two teams met in Dodge City, the Conquistadors would keep the pace with the Saints for much of the set and at times keep Seward County on edge. The Saints however would find a way to pull through at the end of each set and do just enough to come away with a three-set victory.

"We played hard volleyball toight and we went down aggressively" said head volleyball coach Kamri Nehls in a post-game interview. "Tonight was absoultely nothing to hang our heads about and I am extremely proud of this team and all that they accomplished this season after being picked to finish ninth in the conference preseason." "We had a great group of sophomores who led this team in the right direction and paved the road for the future of Dodge City volleyball."

Sophomore Sada Smith, who played her last match in a Conquistador uniform, had 10 kills, one solo block and three assists to go along with one service ace and eight digs. Fellow sophomore Tenille Tholen had 14 digs.
