Box Score 2 SEMINOLE, OKLA. – Ending the weekend on a high note, the Dodge City Community College volleyball team bounced back from a Friday night defeat to take two wins at the Seminole State College Invitational on Saturday, October 8
th.
DC3 is now 18-11 overall and went 3-1 on the weekend at the tournament.
"Overall was a good day for us" said head volleyball coach
Kamri Nehls in a postgame interview. "Our chemistry was extremely good and we played well as a whole." "We had a lot of players contribute to our wins which should allow us to carry the momentum into this weekend's games."
In the first match against Clarendon, Dodge City was able to come away with the four-set victory by scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-20, and 25-12.
Briana Brown led the team in assists with 16 to go along with four service aces while
Tenille Tholen had 15 digs.
Sada Smith carried the team in kills with 11 to go along with 14 digs to record a double-double while
Mariah Watkins had nine kills, one solo block, and one service ace.
Raquel Valdez was a beast defensively, finishing with seven solo blocks.
The second match of the day against host Seminole State looked much like an earlier match this year in Dodge City against the Trojans with scores of the match 25-21, 25-15, and 26-24. Brown ended the day with 19 assists and a service ace in the match while Smith hit .448 with 15 kills and had 13 digs. Valdez picked up where she left off, finishing with eight kills and three solo blocks.
Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference foe Colby Community College awaits the Conquistadors, who will break out the new DC3 Dome against the Trojans on Monday, October 10th. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
