DODGE CITY, Kan. — The Dodge City Community College men's basketball program is looking to get back on track as it returns to KJCCC play 7:30 p.m. Saturday on the road against Cowley in Arkansas City.

The Conquistadors (10-4 overall, 1-2 KJCCC) have gone 1-3 in their last four games since starting the season  9-1.

However, those losses (85-83 at Neosho, 97-88 in overtime to Allen County and 99-93 at Northwest Kansas Tech) have all been close and contests DC3 led in. That includes its defeat to NWKT in its first game back from the holiday break Wednesday.

The Conqs are still sixth in the conference in scoring (87.8) and lead the conference in field goal percentage at 49.7 percent. DC3 also leads the conference in opponents' 3-point percentage (26.0) and are sixth in opponents' field goal percentage (40.0).

The Conqs travel to take on a Cowley team that is 9-6 overall and 1-3 in KJCCC play. In conference play, the Tigers have lost at Colby (80-79) and at Barton (75-65) and at home to Seward County (78-71) while they defeated Cloud County at home (71-38).

Cowley, which is 14th in the conference in scoring at 77.4 points per game, has one player averaging double figures in 6-foot-6 swing man Soufiyane Diakite who is at 13.9 points per contest, though 6-foot-10 Brazilian freshman Pedro Da Silva is averaging 9.9 points to go along with a team-best 6.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. Diakite is second on the team in rebounds (6.6) and third in steals (1.0).

While Cowley is near the bottom in scoring, the Tigers are near the top in scoring defense - allowing 63.2 points per game, good for fifth in the conference.
