Quartet of Men's Basketball Players Earn All-Conference Honors Including Player & Defensive Player of Year Honors

Dodge City men's basketball had a strong season in the highly competitive Jayhawk Conference, finishing with a 20-11 record and 16-8 in the KJCCC to finish third in the conference.

Four Conquistadors picked up all-conference honors, along with two big conference individual awards for their play this season.

Derrick Rivers capped his Conq career by being selected first-team All-KJCCC while also earning Player of the Year honors in the KJCCC. Wesly Rosa was selected second team All-KJCCC and earned Defensive Player of the Year in the KJCCC. Rickey Loftin II transferred in for the Conqs and was an impact player, earning second-team All-KJCCC, while freshman Brad Johnson picked up honorable mention All-KJCCC honors.

Rivers, who earned honorable mention All-KJCCC honors as a freshman, had a huge sophomore season for the Conqs and etched his name in the history books at Dodge City, earning himself first team All-KJCCC and Player of the Year honors. The St. Louis native averaged 20.4 points per game on 38.1% shooting and shot 88.8% from the free-throw line. He added 4.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game on the season, starting all 31 games for the Conqs. He finished second in the KJCCC in points, PPG, free throws made, free throw percentage, and third in field goals made. The sophomore capped his Conq career as one of only four players to total over 1,000 career points, finishing with 1,051 points for the third most in a career in program history. He broke the school record for made free throws with 207 in a single season and ranks third all-time with 300 in his career, while also breaking the school record in single-season free-throw percentage and career free-throw percentage (86.5%). He also ranks fourth in career steals (103), fifth in single-season points with 631 this year, and seventh in career three-pointers (117).

Rosa was a strong presence on the floor for the Conqs all season, and the sophomore from West Africa affected the opposition quite a bit, earning him Defensive Player of the Year and second team All-KJCCC honors. He averaged 7.8 points per game on 75.2% shooting, adding 9.7 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game. Rosa led the KJCCC in RPG, BPG, field goal percentage, and total blocks (99) while ranking second in total rebounds (263). The big man caps his career at Dodge City with the fourth and fifth most blocks in a season with 99 (2025-26) and 67 (2024-25), along with finishing with 166 blocks, the second most in school history. He also ranks seventh in career rebounds with 478 in two seasons.

Loftin II transferred to Dodge City for his sophomore season and was an immediate impact for the Conqs, playing in all 31 games with 26 starts, and earned second team All-KJCCC. He was second on the team in scoring with 15.7 points per game on 50.1% shooting and shot 82.1% from the free-throw line. The Omaha native added 4.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. The sophomore ranked in the Top 10 in the KJCCC in field goals made, free throw percentage, PPG, and total points. He also finished in the Conq record books as his 119 made free throws are the tenth most in a single season and his 82.1% free throw percentage is fifth best in a career.

Johnson had a strong freshman campaign for the Conqs, playing in all 31 games with 27 starts, earning honorable mention All-KJCCC honors. The Chicago native averaged 10.8 points per game on 40.9% shooting while adding five rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

The four honorees match the most in a single season for the Conqs men's basketball team for all-conference, and make it 12 all-conference honorees under Head Coach Brad Witherspoon in four seasons.
