The Conqs went on an 11-0 run, capped by a Brad Johnson dunk, and seemingly took control of the game, going up 33-23 with just over eight minutes left in the first half. The lead for the Conqs remained five or more until two minutes left in the first half, when Cowley went on a 7-0 run to finish the first half and make it a 41-41 tie at halftime.

A 9-2 start to the second half gave Cowley the lead, and the Conqs struggled to find consistent offense in the second half, leading to a double-digit deficit at 57-45 with 14:11 remaining in the game. The Conqs feverishly continued to push back and pulled within two possessions with 1:22 left, trailing 73-67. Conqs managed to get a layup from Rickey Loftin II with 35 seconds left to draw within four, but Cowley capped the game by hitting three of four free throws, and the Conqs were unable to score again, falling 76-69.
