Box Score 2 DODGE CITY, Kansas: An all-around effort on day two propelled the Conqs to two demanding wins over Pratt Community College. DC3 won game one 9-3 and slaughtered the Beavers 13-1 in a seven-inning game two.
The wins today advanced the Conquistadors' record to the all-time most winningest baseball team in Dodge City history with 35 wins. The Conqs are now 35-17 overall and 20-12 within the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
The Conqs' offense posted 29 hits on the day, including a 22-hit game two output. Not to be outdone, the battery allowed only eight hits all day to the Beavers while tabbing 16 collective strikeouts.
In game one, right-hander
Russell Mithlo chucked a full seven innings, scattering three earned runs on five hits while fanning an outstanding 11 batters. The sophomore advanced his record to 7-1 with the win.
The Conqs tabbed an early lead, crossing one run in the first on a groundout RBI by sophomore
Leno Ramirez. Pratt answered in the top of the second, but DC3 continued to pile on runs, tabbing three in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead.
Pratt connected for two more runs in the third inning, closing the gap to one. After a scoreless third inning, the Conqs capitalized with three runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth while leaving the Beavers scoreless through the last four innings for the 9-3 victory.
In game one,
Johnny Balsamo went 2-4 with one RBI and three runs.
Frankie Valle led the team with two RBIs on a 1-3 performance.

Jorden Fields tabbed one RBI and one hit in the game while freshman
Colbey Madewell went 1-2 with one RBI and freshman
Ricky Trammell garnered one hit in the game.
Game two was equally, if not more, exciting for Conqs' fans as DC3 tabbed 22 hits, scoring multiple runs in every inning but the sixth.
Balsamo started off the first inning with a single up the middle, advanced to second on a single to right center by Valle and on to third when Ramirez walked to load the bases. He scored on a wild pitch on the next batter.
Trammell then roped a single to left center that scored both Valle and Ramirez to put the Conqs up 3-0 early.
DC3 scored two more in the second and third before giving up their lone run of the game in the top of the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the frame, Dodge City answered with two more runs to go up 9-1 heading into the fifth inning.
Madewell started off the fifth with a double to left field and advanced to third on a throwing error by left field. He crossed home on a single through the right side by freshman
Tim Wakefield. Balsamo then singled up the middle and Valle singled in the to the left side to load the bases.
After another pitching change, Ramirez singled to the left side to score Wakefield and sophomore
BJ Tieben smoked a ball deep to right field to score Balsamo on a sacrifice fly. On the play, Valle moved to third on a throwing error by the Beavers' right fielder.
With two outs, Trammell singled to the shortstop, scoring Valle and putting runners on the corners. Sophomore
Merle Trueblood walked to load the bases, but a fielder's choice option in the next play closed out the inning for the Conqs with a 13-1 lead.
Sophomore right-hander
Andrew Riddell struck out the first Beavers' batter in the seventh and continued to force a groundout to short and a fly out to right field to end the game with a win. Riddell advances his record to 6-3 after allowing one earned run on three hits and striking out five.
Seven Conqs owned multiple hits in the game. Balsamo ended with a 4-5 performance at the plate with a stolen base and three runs on the bases.
Trammell went 3-4 with five RBIs, Valle went 3-4 with a double and one RBI and three runs and Ramirez went 3-4 with two RBIs and one run.
Wakefield tabbed a 2-4 performance with two RBIs and one run and Madewell went 2-4 with two doubles, two runs and one RBI for the Conqs.
Jordan Doan also went 2-4 with one double, a stolen base and a run.
Tieben closed out the game with one hit, RBI and run for the Conqs while fellow sophomores
Josh Williams and
Hayden Simmons tabbed one hit in the game.
Madewell and Valle worked hard in the middle on defense. Madewell tabbed three putouts and six assists at short and Valle owned two putouts and three assists at second in the game.
DC3 hit .421 on the weekend, going 3-1 against the Beavers. Check out some of the weekend's notable stats below.
