Box Score 2 LIBERAL, Kansas: Dodge City dropped a two-game doubleheader to Seward County yesterday, falling in 7-0 in game one and 8-2 in game two.
Game one was a close battle until the last inning. The Saints grabbed a one-run edge in the fourth inning for the first scoring opportunity, but the Conqs remained scoreless throughout the game. In the sixth inning, the Saints tabbed six more runs to garner the 7-0 shutout over Dodge City.
Jordan Mecham earns the loss after slinging 5.2 innings. She fanned one while scattering five hits throughout 27 batters. Despite allowing six runs in the game, Mecham only gave up one earned run in the game.
Lauren Kelley closed up the final out of the last inning, allowing one unearned run on two hits during her three batter's faced.
Courtney Rettig owned the Conqs only hit of the game, while five other Conqs reached on walks and
Danielle Aldana was hit by two pitches in two at bats to put DC3 in scoring situations throughout the game.
Lindsey Karlin tabbed a sacrifice fly in the game and
Ashley Beavers kept up her job for DC3 by collecting a sacrifice hit.
DC3 dropped game two 8-2 after a hard-fought battle against the Saints.
Seward scattered eight runs throughout seven innings, including two run putouts in the second and third innings and four runs in the sixth. DC3 posted two runs in the third, but had trouble stringing bats together to garner any more runs.
Mia Trujilla picked up the loss after allowing six earned runs and eight total runs on 11 hits in 5.2 innings pitched.
Tristan Rathgeber gave up two hits on the day after coming in during the final inning to pitch the last out of the game.
Karlin, Beavers and
Chantal Prester each had hits in the game. Karlin owned a double, Beavers picked up an RBI, Prester garnered a stolen base during the game and
Shelby Bowman owned an RBI as well for Dodge.
