Box Score 2 HESSTON, Kansas: Dodge City baseball added another split to their record after first defeating Hesston 7-2 and then falling 7-1 to close the day.
In game one,
Phillip Albracht picked up the win after chucking 4.2 innings. He gave up two earned runs on three hits while fanning four in 21 batter's faced.
Corey Land picked up a save after pitching the final 2.1 innings, giving up only one hit while striking out two and facing eight total.
Leno Ramirez and
Hayden Simmons went 3-4 in the game. Coming off his KJCCC Player of the Week accolade, sophomore Ramirez tabbed a double and a RBI. Simmons owned a homerun, owning two RBIs and crossing the plate twice. He also earned four putouts and one assist in left field.
Jorden Fields went 2-2 at the plate with a double. Behind the plate, the catcher tabbed five putouts and three assists in the game.
Josh Williams and
Colbey Madewell each posted one hit and Madewell and
Frankie Valle owned solo RBIs in the game as well.
Game two was less friendly to the Conqs offensively, as they picked up two hits in the game.
Jordan Doan and
Dom Francia owned the two Dodge City pokes of the day.
Matthew Perea picked up the loss after allowing five unearned runs on one hit and three walks. He fanned five after facing 12 in 2.0 innings.
Cory Royer and
Austin Hammer worked the middle-relief. Royer worked 2.0 innings, fanning one and giving up one earned run and one unearned off two hits and two walks.
Hammer fanned two and gave up one hit while facing four batters in 1.0 inning.
Adam Rutz closed out the final inning, striking out one and shutting Hesston down three up, three down.
This weekend, Dodge City will head to Hutchinson, Kansas to take on the Blue Dragons at 1 and 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19.
