DC3 Softball Steals Two from Barton on the Road

GREAT BEND, Kansas: DC3 softball continued their winning ways and advanced their 2015 record to 15-5 and started Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play 2-0 after two wins over Barton on the road last Saturday. The Conqs are currently on a nine-game winning streak after the weekend.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GREAT BEND, Kansas:  DC3 softball continued their winning ways and advanced their 2015 record to 15-5 and started Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play 2-0 after two wins over Barton on the road last Saturday.  The Conqs are currently on a nine-game winning streak after the weekend.

In game one, Dodge went up early with a 2-0 lead in the second inning.  Barton answered with two of their own in the bottom of the third frame and both teams scored one in the fifth for a 3-3 game heading into the seventh inning.

Dodge City was not shy about scoring in the seventh, putting up four runs to close out the game with a 7-3 win.
Lindsey Karlin hit a perfect 4-4 with three RBIs and roped her first long ball out in the game.  Courtney Rettig went 2-3 with two RBIs and a double for the Conqs and both Danielle Aldana and Chantal Prester had singles in the game.

Rettig led the team with six putouts while Aldana owned five putouts and one assist on the day.

Jordan Mecham advanced her record in the circle to 9-2 on the 2015 campaign after slinging seven complete innings.  She allowed eight hits and three runs while striking out five for the win.  The sophomore pitched to 30 batters.

DC3 played and won the second game in the third inning when they posted five consecutive runs to go up 5-0.  Barton posted one run in the third and another in the seventh, but were unable to close the gap resulting in a big Conq victory.

Karlin went 1-1 with an RBI, her 18th double and three walks.  She ranks second in the nation in double hit and with a .686 on-base percentage, third with a .614 batting average and eighth with a 1.018 slugging percentage on the season thus far.

Aldana posted two RBIs after knocking around the ball for one hit.  Rettig went 1-3 with a walk and Ashley Beavers and Taryn Garza had one hit apiece with one RBI as well.

It was a split effort in the circle for the Conqs with Mia Trujillo (3-0) earning the victory after allowing only four hits and one run in 5.1 innings pitched.  She also fanned three throughout 27 batters of work.  Lauren Kelley picked up her third save of the season after closing the final 1.2 innings of the game.  She allowed one hit and one run while striking out one. 

The Conqs moved the Tuesday, March 17 to Friday, March 20 at home due to a bus conflict with Colby.  The Wednesday, March 18 games against Garden City will be as scheduled at 2 and 4 p.m.
