Dodge Baseball Takes Two from Brown Mackie

DODGE CITY, Kansas: Dodge City baseball took two from Brown Mackie College on Wednesday, dropping BMC 12-1 in five innings and 11-10 in seven.

In game one, the Conqs put runs consistently on the board throughout four innings for 12 runs to start the day.  They gave up one in the fourth, but were able to shut down Brown Mackie before they compiled more runs.
 
Jorden Fields went 2-2 with two homeruns for five RBIs.  Jordan Doan and Ricky Trammell each had two hits apiece.  Doan stayed reliable at the plate, collecting two RBIs on a double and a triple, while Trammell, Josh Williams, Hayden Simmons and Andrew Balderaz had one each as well.
 
Matthew Perea (2-0) earned the win after striking out seven and allowing five hits and one run throughout four solid innings.  Austin Hammer came in to close things down in the fifth; shutting the first three batters down with two strikeouts.
 
The second game was offensive on both sides, with Dodge scoring one run in the first to start things up.
 
Brown Mackie was not so willing to roll over this game and worked for seven runs in the top of the second inning.  DC3 countered with seven of their own in the third to go up 8-7.
 
BMC evened the score in the next frame, but DC3 was quick to earn the lead back with two runs in the fifth.  In a last effort, Brown Mackie posted two in the sixth to head into the last inning tied.
 
DC3 worked quickly to put down the opposition and put some hits together in the bottom of the frame for the solo run that would win the game.
 
Doan collected two RBIs from the leadoff spot on one hit and owned two stolen bases along the way.  Frankie Valle, Simmons and Leno Ramirez each had two hits.
 
The Conqs had 11 hits total in the game, totaling 21 on the day.
 
In game two, Cory Royer earned the start after 1.2 innings, striking out two and allowing six runs on six hits.  Garrett Hammond, Phillip Albracht and Luke Crabb worked the middle with Hammond owning three strikeouts and Crabb posting two.  Albracht kept them scoreless during his three batters in one inning of work.
 
Russell Mithlo earned the win after closing down the final inning in five batters with three big strikeouts.
 
The Conqs advance their record to 14-4 overall and 5-3 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
 
Next, DC3 will head to Cloud County on Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15.  First games on each day will start at 1 p.m.
