Box Score HESSTON, Kansas: Dodge City women's soccer dominated Hesston College on the road last Friday. The Conqs came away with a big 5-1 victory to close out last weekend's play 1-0-1 overall. DC3 advances their record to 3-1-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the Jayhawk Conference after the weekend.
The Conqs scored successfully in both the first and second half, with the first goal coming in the seventh minute of play.
Jessica Klemetson crossed in to
Kayla Turner for her fourth goal of the season. In the 36
th minute, the opposition put an own goal through the back of the net off a shot by
Jessica Crites.
Before the half closed out, the Conq offense netted another one to go up 3-0.
Mercedes Sanches received the ball from
Stephanie Yoder for the goal connection.
Yoder started the second half with a goal of her own for the Conqs, scoring in the first minute of play off an assist from
Kristina Trinceri.
The Larks then allowed another own goal off a ricocheted ball by Yoder, going down 5-0 before the last ten minutes of play.
In the 82
nd minute, Hesston would score their first and only goal by the foot of Machi Kanematsu.
The Conqs posted 21 total shots on the day on the offensive while goalie
Elyssia Lucio allowed just the one goal while posting four saves on the day.
DC3 will return home this weekend, taking on Hutchinson in their second Jayhawk Conference outing on Wednesday, September 10 at 4 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
