Dodge City football snagged their second win of the season, beating Independence at home 43-42 on Saturday, and several individual performances stood out for the Conquistadors. 
 
Two Conqs have been recognized for their success against Independence with Player of the Week honors in the KJCCC: Joshua Taylor and James Robinson, named KJCCC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. 
 
Taylor was part of the Conqs offense that posted 43 points on 551 total yards, running for 168 yards on 12 carries and catching two passes for another nine yards. He busted off 65 and 78 yard touchdown runs in the third quarter for the Conqs and averaged 14 yards per carry on the day. 
 
On the defensive side of the ball, James Robinson helped lead the charge for the Conqs, recording 10 tackles, seven solo from his defensive back position. He added a ½ sack and 1.5 tackles for loss along with a big, blocked kick on special teams in the second quarter.
 
The Conqs are back home on Saturday, September 26^th, as #10 Iowa Central comes to town for a 12:00 pm kickoff.
